Random Rant: Are you kidding me!?

I came across a forum post with codes for the Seventeen May giveaways. Sure, why not. Click on the link, click on the link for “No purchase necessary,” fill in your info, put in the code, and then hit submit. Repeat for all the items you want to enter to win.

One time, I forgot to hit “No purchase necessary” — it signed me up for 10 issues (albeit at the introductory price of $1/issue) of Seventeen magazine. I don’t read Seventeen and I don’t want to read Seventeen (I’m a little too old for that anyway). This is the email confirmation I received:

This is an auto-generated email, please do not reply. If any information is incorrect, or if you need to contact customer service for any reason, we ask that you wait at least one week for your order to be processed and your information to appear in our system. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of first issue.

Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!? I do NOT want my order to be processed!!! What do you mean wait one week! What the heck! Take back the order! TAKE IT BACK! I DON’T WANT YOUR MAGAZINE! I DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THEM TELLING ME IT’LL TAKE 2 MONTHS TO PROCESS, AND IN THE MEANTIME I AM FORCED TO RECEIVE MAGAZINES THAT I DON’T READ AND THEN GET CHARGED FULL-PRICE, AND THEN HAVE TO CALL TO FIX THAT TOO ON TOP OF CALLING TO REMIND THEM TO PLEASE STOP MAILING ME.

As you can see, I’ve been through this before.

Sigh.. it’s my fault for being so greedy, and wanting freebies :(

Random Rant: Out of Stock?

Do you often feel like the product you REALLY REALLY WANT is out of stock?! You frantically check for the closest stores, call them up, check online, beg the store clerk to check one more time?

That seems to happen to me a lot. :/ (Of course, it’s really all relative.) I know that a couple reasons this happens is because… I notice the product when it’s on sale (half the time I see the price tag before I see the product, so I don’t even consider it), and/or I am waiting to find another item to buy so I can get free shipping :( So… in the meantime, the product gets bought up!

As consolation, I’m going to tell myself that I just have good taste, because clearly everybody else wanted what I wanted…

(If you care to know, this just happened to me. I spied the Fresh: Citron de Vigne Set and I was going to get it online so I could buy another product and get free shipping…AND IT’S OUT OF STOCK ONLINE!!! I called up both Sephora’s closest to me and they’re out too!!!)

Random Rant: Hairbands

I swear, hairbands in the house are as elusive as socks in the dryer. How can I buy a pack of like.. 50…and not have any left?? Granted, I bought them last year.. but that would mean I use 4 a month? More like I lose them at a rate of 4 a month?? (I use, like, and would re-buy Goody Ouchless Hair Elastics, in brown.) Anyway, I found one in my car and one in a jacket pocket, so I’m trying to survive on those two for now.. :(

(Yes, I noted these objects are called hair elastics, but I’m going to just stick with my two syllable phrase.)
